About

At our Greek taverna, we focus on a farm-to-table experience, just like my parents and grandparents did. We grow our own vegetables, ensuring every dish is made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Our menu reflects traditional Greek flavours, prepared with care and passed down through generations. Taste the difference of authentic, homemade meals made from the heart.

For a city that has been renowned for the variety and quality of its Greek eating establishments - bear in mind Adelaide has a large Greek population in our midst – any newcomer on the dining scene is bound to stir up a frisson of culinary excitement. Vasili’s Table, located a stone’s throw from the glorious seaside at West Beach is one such newcomer after opening its doors in December 2025. On location points alone Vasili’s wins hands down - sequestered as it is at a quieter locale of Adelaide’s beach scene Painted in subtle blues and bright whites the taverna (let’s speak Greek) suggests Greece from the outside and feels like Greece on the inside. The palm trees on the street outside could have been re-planted from Vouliagmeni or Varkiza near Athens. The spacious interior consisting of a covered al fresco space for those warm days, a central dining area where musicians play live music on Friday and Saturday evening and a cosy nook called ‘grandma’s alcove’ that sports a fireplace for those chilly winter evenings by the sea. Friendly, well-attuned staff ushered our group to our alcove table and had Plomari ouzo on ice in front us before we had even explored the broad-ranging menu. A good sign – prompt service is always the hallmark of a well-run restaurant. The best way to eat at a Greek restaurant is to graze on mezédes, smaller dishes representing the array of culinary offerings. We chose several mezédes – grilled chicken, beef patties, tzatzíki and aubergine dips, Greek (horiátiki) salad and two exquisite saganáki (small skillet-grilled) dishes - one with cheese and figs and the outright winner for us - prawns in a rich tomato sauce punctuated by baby tomatoes and most likely grandma’s secret herb mix. Octopus with baby tomatoes is also a stand-out option and the spanakópita in a creamy mayonnaise infused sauce is to write home about. When available ask for the oven roasted baby goat done 'kléftiko' style wrapped in paper. The meat just falls off the bone. Importantly for us, many of the waiting staff speak Greek and know their food: like us. This makes a big difference in our book. Food was brought out promptly and with no delays between plates. It reminded us – dare we say it – of a Greek restaurant in Greece where prompt and smiling service is the recipe for an enjoyable time. There is a sizeable drinks menu, and apart from the aforesaid Plomári ouzo (the best!) there are wines from mainly Australian wineries but at the last visit there were (sadly) only two choices of Greek wine at last count - a Klíma Vidianó from Crete (white) and a St George Agiorítiko (red). However, the restaurant is BYO so for a corkage fee of $15 you can easily bring your own favourite Greek (or Australian) wine. No problems on that score. It's been a long time since our group has been impressed by a Greek restaurant in Adelaide – and we are tough customers and old Greece hands (your scribe being former travel writer and restaurant reviewer), but Vasili’s Table impressed. Location, service, honest and tasty food are the ingredients for any successful dining business, and we found it in West Beach. Bravo Vasili and the crew! OMG, I felt like I was back in Paros! The atmosphere, service, and delicious food were all absolutely magnificent. So authentic, it honestly could have been cooked by Yiayia herself. Can’t wait to bring the family and friends next time! And the opa at the end was so much fun!

Wow! what an atmosphere! Walking in on a weekend, the first thing that captures you is the energy of the live Greek music. It instantly sets the tone and makes the whole place feel alive. The service was just as impressive. We were looked after by an older gentleman whose warmth and professionalism made the experience even better, truly brilliant service. The food stands out from the usual Greek restaurants in Adelaide. There’s a real home-cooked, passed-down-through-generations feel to every dish. The Prawn Saganaki was absolutely spot on, rich, balanced, and full of flavour. But the star of the night was the lamb platter: milk-fed lamb shoulder, Vasili’s signature 12-hour slow-cooked masterpiece, with potatoes and tzatziki. We ordered it for four, but honestly, it could have fed six. Tender, generous, and unforgettable. We’ll definitely be back, and hopefully next time we’ll be dancing too!

Just the most delectable authentic Greek cuisine in Adelaide! We ordered a variety of dishes from Tommy rough, calamari to a Charcoal lamb platter and we left completely satisfied. Meal and atmosphere exceeded all expectations. If we were not from Queensland it would be a regular dining experience for us for sure!!

Visited the newly opened Vasilis Table and was not disappointed. From the warm ambience and friendly staff to the mouth watering Horta and Kountsouvli. Really couldn’t pick a favourite but will be back soon. This is a definite for those seeking traditional, delicious Greek food.
