Looking for delicious Japanese food and sake in Northbridge then Bonsai is the place. The aburi salmon nigiri is absolutely amazing and so complex - It starts with a smoky flavour from the half flamed cooked portion then the other half is a velvet silkiness texture as you easily bite into the fresh salmon sashimi, it is topped with a miso sauce that gives it a unique sweetness then you get a hint of spice from the wasabi hiding between the salmon and the rice. I canโ€™t recommend the Aburi Salmon Nigiri enough - i love it. The staff are friendly and attentive. Coco is a great hostess. The manager Isaac is always there with a smile to attend to your requests. It is a very convenient location on Roe street in Northbridge near the city, central train station, RAC arena, Heath Ledger theatre, WA museum Boola Bardip and Art gallery of WA. The restaurant has a great warehouse atmosphere suitable for couples, to large gatherings as a starting point for a night out to family dinners. It is kid friendly restaurant with room for prams and high chairs are available upon request. We have always felt welcomed there every time we have visited over the last 10 years and will continue to go back.

Thank you Bonsai for allowing us to host our intimate wedding party. You guys have been amazing from start to finish. Isaac was super helpful and attentive throughout the night. Many of our guests complimented his communication, hospitality and efficiency. At the beginning we accidentally cut the canapes short and he very flexibly changed it to table service without dramas. The food and presentation was as delicious as we remembered during our first date there 8 years ago. From the bottom of our hearts - thank you so much.

Dinner for 2 on a Sunday night with my son. We arrived upon their opening time of 6pm without a reservation. The host was friendly & immediately shown us a table of 2 near the front window. The restaurant itself looks lovely, however both my son & I find it to be a tad dark than our liking as we do prefer bright & well lit atmospheres. The menu has a great selection & we eventually decided to have the following : SHARED : SALMON SASHIMI SLICES(6 pcs) served traditional style with our own wasabi and soy combination $16.50 PER PERSON : TERIYAKI ANGUS STEAK (SUNDAY SPECIAL MENU) Premium Angus beef steak pan fried, cubed & dressed signature garlic butter teriyaki sauce and garnished with sliced fresh onions - with a small serve of steamed rice $25 PER PERSON : Miso Soup Miso stock from combination of Japanese mushrooms $6 We did enjoyed everything we ordered - salmon was fresh & the steak special were cooked to perfection (medium). Sauce was divine especially enjoyable to scoop onto the rice. As they were on the special menu & priced at $25, we thought it was a quite a great serving (smaller portions) so I think my son could have easily have 2 servings to make him full! ๐Ÿคฃ However, it was the perfect portion controlled amount for me ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Miso soup was light & refreshing, I loved the addition of sliced mushrooms in it. Overall our bill came to just under $80 & we came out satisfied. The only concern was having only 1 host/waitperson looking after the whole restaurant. By the time we were about to leave the restaurant around 7pm, there were about 7-8 tables occupied (2 were of bigger tables of 6 people or more) so we found that it was hard to get any attention for anything. Even when I went to the counter to make payment, I was made to wait about 10 minutes before the host was able to serve me to settle the bill. All in all enjoyable experience especially since they had the Steak Special Menu.

Me and my partner decided to have our anniversary dinner here, and we got the set menu. I have to say, the place is absolutely beautiful, the interior design of the wood was absolutely stunning. Additionally, the food, the service and drinks were brilliant. To be honest the drinks were alot cheaper than I was expecting, and they were absolutely delicious. The sparkling jelly peach, I canโ€™t remember what it was called, is one thing I highly recommend to try if you come here. Also the share & entrees did not disappoint at all! Iโ€™m not a big fan of jelly, which was the dessert for the set menu, but the crushed peanuts on the jelly was a wonderful addition! The crunch with the jelly was delightful! And again since Iโ€™m not a fan of jelly, I got the black sesame ice cream, and I must say, if you go here you must try it! This restaurant is a must try! Definitely worth 5 stars.
