Best dining experience we've had in Melbourne for quite some time. Food was amazing, and our server was so lovely and attentive. All the staff delivered great service while not seeming rushed or stressed, hopefully this is reflective of them feeling supported in their team. I also found the price quite reasonable for the high quality that was delivered. We were surprised at how good value the bill was considering we both got drinks and felt very satiated. I am really glad we booked! Definitely recommend booking as it was very busy (probably due to aus open being on), so there was around an hour and a half wait for walk ins. Overall a great experience, 10/10 Dishes we had: the kim chi, korean rice cakes, Moreton Bay bug & chicken dumplings, and Szechuan white cut chicken. All delicious!
Love this place. Great service and food. You can sit at the large bar and watch the kitchen staff, so it's perfect for solo travelers. They also can make most decisions half-portion so you can try more stuff. I had the brown butter scallop, lobster roll, lamb shoulder + eggplant, and peanut butter parfait. Everything was great but the lobster roll was probably my least favorite. I probably my least favorite. Kinda wish I had gone with a dumpling or bao bun. The lamb shoulder was the star of the show. The meat was tender and juicy and it was swimming in sauce and spices. Get a side of rice to soak up the sauce. Peanut butter parfait was a nice light dessert to finish off. 10/10 recommend this place!
An incredibly popular dinner spot near flinders station. I dined solo and had the $130 banquet which i was delighted that they catered for single diners too! The food is fantastic, every dish was very tasty. The lobster roll which I didnโt think was all that in keeping with the Asian fusion style of the restaurant but was a highlight regardless. The kimchi was deliciously and lightly spiced. The raw seafood selection was fantastically fresh and the cold cut chicken was absolutely delicious and the chicken beautifully juicy. The steak with accompaniments was well cooked and the sides fantastic though the sesame vegetables tasted very similar to the kimchi from the start so it would have been nice to have something with a bit of a different flavour profile than what Iโd had before. The peanut butter parfait was a sensation. The restaurant is very vibey and Iโd suggest booking although they do accept walk ins, they turned a fair few people away given how busy they were My only criticism of the meal was the pace of the meal. I was served the first 5 courses within 25 minutes and the 6th came half an hour after Iโd ordered. I would have enjoyed it more had the dinner been paced a bit slower as it felt like I was being churned out a bit and couldnโt really enjoy the meal fully. When I tried to eat slower, another plate got slapped down in front of me. It could have been because I was a solo diner or because they were full, but either way with better pacing Iโd have given it 5 stars. Iโd definitely be back to supernormal though, a lovely find!
Visited on a Saturday evening with a friend without reservation, was promptly given a seat. Staffs were friendly, although there were minor challenges in flagging staffs for order initially. Ordered the following, which we enjoyed - House made kimchi, garlic chive - very refreshing and a good start for dinner. Highly recommended! Raw beef, yuzu kosho, black sesame & tofu cracker - this was a good plate, no bad comments. Prawn & chicken dumplings, chili & vinegar - good as well, chili and vinegar is great with the dumplings. Servings would be just nice for sharing for more than 2 people for sure. Duck bao - twice cooked duck leg, black vinegar & plum sauce - I enjoyed this dish, it was okay-ish for my dinner companion. Itโs a pretty unique plate with a crackle, salty-ish layer on the skin, so if youโre leaning more towards Peking duck or roast duck style, this is not it. It is nice with the black vinegar dip for sure. Steamed blue eye, ginger shallot, nori & aromatic soy - steamed to perfection, although we were quite full by the time the dish arrives. Itโs a decent portion for sharing. The atmosphere is great; pretty chill spot and a nice dinner space.
I have wanted for a long time to tick this of the Melbourne to do list... Food was ok to good. Few misses.. Raw tuna had little to NO flavour. Upsold lobster was overcooked and well overpriced..$160.00 for 1/2 a small cray. My fault... should have asked the price before ordering. The rest of the offerings were great. Service was 10/10.. even with a chipped glass and a lobster roll full of shell tje staff didnt miss a beat. The venue had a great BUSY vibe... If only the food was as good as the rest of the venue... would have been a 10/10
