We had quick breakfast at this popular bakery / cafe on our recent holiday in Hobart and ordered the sausage & egg brioche roll, pain suisse pastry and a regular matcha latte for drink. We like the dishes and drink, though should be expected from such premium pricing points. There is not much ambience to discuss since it only has small space for guests to sit and enjoy their breakfast, hence most customers would get take-away order, unless you want to sit in their bistro space and order their bistro menu items. Customer service is really patchy though it may reflect their under-staff situation where one person acted as cashier taking order / payment and also as person delivering the customer orders. However, it should not mean 'less friendly and smile' interaction with customers, especially the ones from interstate who are not regular and need more time to read and understand the menu options 🙁. You can pay with all type of credit cards with additional surcharge of up to 1.6%.

So pumped this place exists in Sandy Bay - it really needed a good coffee shop + fancy dining space! I’ve been here about 10 times since opening and I can’t fault them. Service is consistent, friendly and pretty fast. The baked items are creative, offering something completely different to the other shops throughout Hobart (and very tasty). We were also one of the lucky groups to experience the bistro; amazing Tasmanian produce, crisp clean cocktails, and top tier service. I strongly recommend this venue for fresh, baked goods, specialty coffee and your morning smile :)

Whether you’re after delicious coffee & pastries, or a flavourful & satisfying lunch with a fine glass of wine, Six Russell is the only spot in Sandy Bay that hits all the right spots! I’ve been going here regularly since it opened & have never been disappointed by the quality of their products or the delightful service that accompanies them. What better way to start the day than with an excellent coffee & a smile!? Their panne suisse is my go to favourite treat & their freshly baked loaves are the best bread I have ever tasted in Tassie. I love that their bistro menu is varied, interesting & different to the usual, overpriced avo on toast. Today I dined in & had the succulent beef gnocchi which was cooked to perfection & set me up for the afternoon. Thanks team, keep up the great work!

Stopped by Six Russell and tried their hazelnut special croissant, and it was honestly amazing. The croissant was super flaky and the cream inside was rich with a really nice hazelnut praline flavour. They have a great variety of pastries to choose from, so it’s easy to want everything. The coffee was really good and the staff at the front were lovely, welcoming, and happy to help. A great spot to start the morning.

Would dare say that this is the best place in Hobart. Went there with my friends for brunch - the service is enthusiastic, warm and authentic; interior design of the place is well thought out with a long table for larger groups ~10-12 people; needless to say the food and beverage there deserves a sixth star - the portions are generous and quality is top notch. Would recommend their cheesecake, and beef gnocchi.
