Too hungry and forgot to take photos for the main meal. But everything was great. The meat quality is one of the best in Brisbane.
Shimo was such a great experience. We got the Wagyu plate for two, with duck and pork belly. The food was excellent and plating was exceptional. Having details like custom wooden picks to label the meat and bespoke crockery really set the place apart. Our server was also very nice and welcoming. Overall, Shimo is exactly what Iโm looking for at a BBQ restaurant.
We had dinner here last night for my partner's birthday and it was amazing. We had the Omakase set menu which was incredible. There was so much food and everything was delicious. The scallops were huge and the wagyu literally melted in your mouth. The onsen egg was perfect too. We were so full we didn't really need the ramen or dessert, but we ate both because it was all so tasty. Service was impeccable and all the staff were lovely. Table settings etc also all beautiful. It was a little quiet but that doesn't really bother us, and may have been because it was a Thursday night. Would definitely recommend :)
This was our first time eating at Shimo and we only stumbled upon it through googling. I am so glad we chose it because it was absolutely delicious!!! I don't think I could fault anything, absolutely 10/10. We had the Celebrations Banquet + sashimi and loved every single thing served. The staff were great and provided excellent service. We will definitely be recommending Shimo to everyone!
Have a birthday here with my friends and we ordered two yakiniku lunch set, ones $49 and ones $65. The wagyu cuts were beautifully marbled and tender, especially when grilled to perfection, and the pork belly added a rich contrast. The sides included steamed rice, kimchi, miso soup, seasonal vegetables, and the silky onsen egg, all were prepared nicely to help balanced the meal. The service was quick and attentive, making the whole lunch smooth and enjoyable. We also Japanese matcha latte while eating, which we all so impressed with the taste since it feels authentic. It was so smooth, earthy, and not overly sweet. Overall, this spot delivers not just great food, but a well-thought-out dining experience. For the price, the value is excellent given the quality of the wagyu and the variety of dishes included. Forget to take photos of the food since we were so busy enjoying it, but definitely will come back and highly recommend to people who loves Japanese food.
