We had a fantastic Friday lunch with friends at Eileenโs Charcoal grill. Attentive and well informed staff in a lovely atmosphere. The meal was magnificent, great 2 course express lunch deal -such good value for great quality. My husband upgraded extra $10 for the eye filet and I had a perfectly cooked lamb backstrap, so delish! We ordered extra sides for the group which we probably didnโt need but glad we did. Extensive wine list, very well put together for all price points. So good, weโll definitely be back!
Originally planned to go to Eileen's, but they weren't open at the time so settled for the Sawyer's Arms. When I say settled, let me elaborate on that a little bit. The food and service and recommendations from the waiter were ABSOLUTELY FAULTLESS. Shared a saganaki with honey and citrus sauce which was just a whole new experience. Out of this world Next I had a convey of duck with Roesti potatoes. The duck literally fell off the bone and the flavours were sensational. Full points to the team in the kitchen and the wait staff were also wonderful.
Good selection, including lunch specials. The food is generally good with good portions. Nice warm place with firewood to keep the place comfortable.
There were some wonderful moments at the Sawyers Arms, & some not so wonderful. My husband & I had not been here, so on reading the reviews we decided to book in. The service from the 2 young staff members was just perfect. My husband ordered the calamari, main size, & I ordered the Parma. We shared my not-so-hot chips (I love hot chips). The Parma was a decent size, so I shared that too. I think it was the noise in the area where we were seated that really made our night less than a pleasant experience. Our waiter was more than happy to move us to a quieter area to finish our drinks.
If youโre after a classic British-style pub experience in Geelong, the Sawyer Arms Tavern is the place to go. The food is hearty, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The lamb cutlets were a standoutโtender and juicy on the inside with a perfectly crunchy crumb on the outside. The Caesar salad was huge and loaded with juicy chicken, flavorful dressing, and just the right amount of salty anchovies. And donโt miss the Saganaki cheeseโitโs like indulging in the best crunchy bits from a toasted sandwich. Seriously addictive! The service here is top-notch, tooโfriendly, efficient, and genuinely helpful, making the whole experience even better. Theyโve also got a surprisingly great wine list for a pub, so thereโs something to suit every taste. Whether youโre after a casual meal or a cozy drink, the Sawyer Arms Tavern nails it. Highly recommend!
