Amazing Asian food with generous portions! I had the chicken cashew fried rice for lunch and it was absolutely delicious, full of flavour and very satisfying. The staff are warm and friendly, which makes the experience even better. The menu has so many great options, youโre spoilt for choice. Definitely coming back again!
We were visiting our friends at Sunshine Coast, and were not expecting such nice Thai food and experience in this part of Sunshine Coast. We went there for an early dinner on a Tuesday night. We tried Bao and satay for starter, and pad Thai, massaman beef cheek curry, chicken red curry and lemongrass honey chicken, steamed rice and roti for our mains. All dishes were very good, tasty and packed with flavours. Chicken satay came with rich peanut sauce and pickled slices of cucumbers. Beef cheek was super soft and tender. Easily melted in the mouth. The only criticism I have is that all the dishes were on a sweeter side (which is common for Thai dishes), and the roti was just okay. Service was friendly and fast. All staff are Thai, including the chefs. Oh Monk is worthwhile a visit for an authentic taste of Thailand with a modern twist.
The place is smaller than I expected, so if you're coming with a group or want a big table, it's a good idea to make a reservation. That said, they do welcome walk-ins, which is nice. We ordered quite a few dishes: Nori Pepper Calamari โ a bit too salty for my taste, but still okay. Shiitake Betel Leaves โ slightly sweet, but actually really nice. Iโd recommend trying this one. Lemongrass Honey Chicken โ very overpowering and too sweet. The lemongrass flavour didnโt come through, and you definitely need rice with this one to balance it out. Pad Thai โ also quite sweet. Crispy Coral Trout with Chilli Sauce โ beautifully cooked fish, but again, very sweet. Overall, the food was decent, but most of the dishes were too sweet for my liking. If you prefer more balance or savoury flavours, you might want to ask them to adjust the sweetness when you order.
A new Asian Fusion restaurant has opened near Coles Sippy Downs, operated by the same team behind Dee Den, so diners can expect a similar level of food service. The venue itself is compact and brightly decorated, creating a vibrant atmosphere, but it could get quite noisy during peak hours due to limited space. Service was impressively efficient for a busy 7 PM dinner service. Orders are placed via QR code, and all dishes were served together within 20 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise. Presentation was clean and visually appealing. In terms of flavor, the dishes were generally well-balanced, though none stood out as particularly memorable. The curry, in particular, was lacked the depth and richness I had hoped for, and the seafood content was minimal. Overall, while the experience was smooth and the service commendable, the food didnโt quite leave a lasting impression, so I'm not sure should I come back.
We went on Oh Monk on their opening day for an office team lunch. Ordering was really easy, the food came out fast and it was super tasty! We had a mixture of dishes, the bao buns were great, some gyozas and the honey lemon chicken and the cashew nut stir fry. The atmosphere was cool and great colourful fitout, it was busy so it was a bit noisy but we had fun and it added to the vibe. Itโs a great new addition to sippy downs and our team will be back for lunch again regularly.
