Decent Italian food in a beautiful cafe. Unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. Servings were small, emphasizing quality over quantity. They served up the best rocket salad with gorgonzola I've ever had! Meatballs and tagliatelle porcini was ok but nothing to shout about, especially given the price and serving size. Interior was beautiful. It was bright - loads of natural light, and relaxing. Tables and chairs were comfortable. Utensils felt weighty. It's right nrar other bustling food hot spots, so the location was great. However, the service ruined the experience. (1) The tone of the initial greeting that included checking if we had a booking and seating us was pretty unfriendly. Not a single smile. The waitress seemed like she'd much rather be anywhere else. (2) We ordered meatballs with added bread to soak up the sauce as recommended on the menu. Waitress added that the added bread is a single slice, which we said "ok". Meatballs came with no bread. (3) When the same waitress came around, we queried about the bread. The waitress simply stated, "sorry, we're out of bread." I guess they forgot to let us know before hand. (4) When we went to pay, the bill stated meatballs + bread. This was amended then I raised that the bread never arrived. The same waitress was called over and she amended the bill. She apologized that they ran out of bread. Two things put us off: 1. They're right beside one of the best bakeries in Freo. Little Loaf a 1 min walk away. We went past after our meal and saw that they had multiple loaves of beautiful sourdough. They were open and had a small queue in the shop. So there's no good reason not to have bread. 2. Quality service is expected considering the price point. Nonna's is not cheap. At $30+ for a pasta, this ain't feeding the masses like Bella Roma. We expected much better service. Everyone has their off days. I sincerely hope this was just one of theirs.

Pizza is so freaking good. Understand previous comments about them being thin, but that dough is just so delicious and fluffy. I love that they have takeaway tiramisu ready to go 🤎

We had a wonderful evening at Nonna's. The service was excellent and the food authentic 👌 We had the vitello tonnato for primo piatto. We shared it and loved it. It was different but very tasty. Secondo piatto was a pizza for my husband and the Ragu pasta for me. Both of those dishes were divine 😋. We will be back and want you to try it out yourself. You won't be disappointed. If you like freshly prepared Italian food, go to Nonna's!

Nonna’s meatballs OMG! Nothing like it. And the freo octopus, Madonna!!! We had the Grazielle pizza and it was perfection. Best food on the other side of the cappuccino strip. New fave place to eat in Freo! Do yourselves a favour and GO!

An absolute delight from start to finish! The cocktails were delicious and the perfect way to kick off the meal. The antipasti were full of flavor and beautifully presented. I tried both the pizza and the pasta , both were incredibly tasty, generous, and satisfying. The service was excellent: friendly and attentive. The warm, inviting atmosphere made the whole experience even better. A fantastic Italian spot I highly recommend! Francesca & Pablo
