Visited tonight after hearing positive reviews on social media. Incredible food atmosphere and really amazing wait staff. I look forward to coming back. The Jackfruit pudding is probably the best dessert I have ever had - I hope it can stay on the menu all year round!

4.5 ⭐️ Ambience was very welcoming, clean and modern. Food was delicious. An up-market take on Asian cuisine, where the chefs truly care about their presentation and taste. When the chefs ask for feedback-it is a great sign. Only knock was one of their waiters who couldnt explain the chefs menu, walked off mid-sentence and didn’t return. Apparently he was in training, so some lean way given….even if he took away my prawn crackers before I even finished them 😂

1000/10 this whole experience blew us out of the water. My partner and I got the chefs gold fixed dinner and it did not disappoint. Every meal was so thoughtfully curated and delicious. Our waiter was so gracious. We left stuffed, happy and with leftovers!

We came here based on good reports and ratings. The venue is lovely, light and airy, simple but sophisticated, with a retractable roof for the evenings. The menu is varied and interesting Asian Fusion with a Thai focus. We ordered the scallops on betel leaf, the BBQ octopus, the yellow curry with barramundi and the beef cheeks massaman. The scallops were perfect, an easy 10/10. The flavours and textures were absolutely on point. They are a one mouth bite arrangement, betel leaf and all. I would have preferred a slightly larger betel leaf to assist with that but it was still great. The octopus was tender and flavoursome, and worked well with the other elements on the plate. Again, excellent. The beef cheeks were cooked to perfection, with textbook rendering. Personally, I found the curry sauce pushed a bit far, and it had lost a little of the expected balance, layers and lightness that a great massaman should have. It was still pretty good. The yellow curry was a bit confusing for me. It still tasted very nice, but it had drifted from that you expect a yellow curry to be, perhaps a little more towards paenang or even choo chee style. I really admire what Melrose is trying to achieve. I understand that trying to put your own spin on classics is difficult to say the least. The serves for mains and sharing were generous and well presented. The staff were most helpful, especially Sampson and Anna. Prices were reasonable. Anyway, a lovely lunch, thanks to chef and all the team.

Lunch at Melrose in Bulimba was nothing short of a treat. With the roof open and the sun shining, we were welcomed into a breezy, tropical vibe – perfect for their “Escape the Ordinary” motto. The service was a standout – our server was genuinely joyful, chatty, and couldn’t do enough for us. It’s rare to see that level of warmth and attentiveness. We kicked things off with some cheekily named, fruity cocktails – spot-on for a warm day – followed by a Vocoret petit chablis, and well-paired with the food. Entrees were a hit: the crispy duck bao with citrus hoisin was moreish and rich, while the yellowfin tuna aburi had a zesty kick and was immaculately fresh – a real highlight. For mains, the barramundi yellow curry was superb. Deeply flavoured and full of texture with Thai eggplant, snake beans and curry leaves, it was made even better with fluffy rice and flaky roti for dipping. Dessert stole the show – the Ube Bombe Alaska. Sweet but balanced, the coconut sponge and ube ice cream were a perfect match, and the flaming Cognac pour added drama (despite the breeze playing havoc!). Melrose is an impressive spot – bold flavours, vibrant service, and a menu that begs for a return visit. Can’t wait to come back and explore more.
