I’ve seen this restaurant all over my instagram and I finally tried it, safe to say I’ll be back. Everything came out quite quickly, staff were friendly and the food was mouth watering delicious. If you’re hunting for cheap eats in Haymarket, @khaomankai.syd is a must! The chicken 🐓 is insanely tender, and the garlic rice is next-level 🍚not your regular plain rice, it’s packed with flavour. The menu is super affordable, and the set meals usually come with chicken and soup, making it a perfect quick lunch spot. Some of my favourites I tried: 🦐Soy Marinated Mixed Salmon & Prawns Rice (raw) – fresh, flavourful, and pairs perfectly with a splash of soy. 🐥Combination with Garlic Rice – can’t go past steamed chicken or grilled chicken, the meat is juicy and melts in your mouth. 🐷Crispy pork & grilled pork jowl – crunchy, savoury, and ridiculously moreish. 🍣 Yum Nua (raw seafood) – fresh and tangy, a great contrast to the rich meats. 🥥Fresh coconut – to wash it all down, sweet, refreshing, and perfect after all that garlic rice. Honestly, everything I tried was so satisfying and full of flavour, and for the price, you really can’t complain. Perfect for a casual Thai feast without breaking the bank. 🥢🍗🥥

Loved everything here! Came to try their soy marinated seafood and chicken rice - they had the soy marinated seafood in both a bowl and DIY version which was so fun to make and tasted amazing. The variety of the menu is huge, heaps of options if you're not a huge seafood fan. The steamed chicken was so juicy and went so well with the flavourful chicken rice. The restaurant is located 5 minutes from Central Station, just the street up from Haymarket LR - super convenient for a post uni or work meal. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Khao Man Kai in Sydney CBD is a great spot if you’re after something quick, affordable, and genuinely tasty. Their signature chicken rice is simple but done really well – the chicken is soft and tender, the rice is full of flavour, and the sauce brings everything together perfectly. It’s garlicky, a little spicy, and adds the perfect kick to each bite. For the price, you really can’t go wrong. Definitely one of the better cheap eats in the city!
