Authentic HK taste and great value. I visited this cafe twice in one day for lunch and dinner. The food is authentic and reminds me of Hong Kong. I tried the curry brisket, 4 treasure rice bowl, pan-fried chicken with scallion oil, and the XO beef kweytiaw. Every dish had genuine flavors and very generous portions. It is excellent value for money. The shop is busy during the lunch rush, but the quality is consistent. Highly recommended for a practical, high-quality meal.
I would say this is a very authentic Hong Kong cafรฉ. We had been craving Hong Kong soy sauce noodles ever since our trip to Hong Kong a few years back. While we were in Melbourne and looking for something to eat around the CBD area, we came across this cafรฉ and decided to give it a try. I must say, the taste was truly authentic. It was much better than expected, especially for a Hong Kongโstyle dish outside of Hong Kong. A pleasant surprise and definitely worth a visit!
The salty fish fried rice was really delicious. The fried treasure was good with the real soy sauce that comes with it. The curry chicken rice was tasty, and the French toast was good too. Everything came out quickly, the place is spotless, and Iโd definitely come back for the fried rice for sure. Very affordable and friendly staff. What a nice surprise โ I was going to try the cafe nearby but Iโm glad I settled on this one!
Genuine Hong Kong Style eatery. I was so surprised to find a genuine old school Hong Kong Style eatery in the middle of Melbourne. The menu was what I had expected from the name. Offering the same kind of simple, authentic quick and simple HK cafe meals. Bonus points because I could hear staff speaking Cantonese. The interior was the basic criteria for an Asian eatery, and they had self service water. A tap with sparkly water was a nice bonus. They also had self serve condiments. We had the stir fried beef rice noodles, and baked curry beef brisket/pepper beef combo. The serving size was generous and they price was great. I'll be back.
Really great HK food! Tasty flavours with good portion and price! I ordered their combo black pepper beef and curry brisket baked rice ($18.80) with a crispy pineapple bun with butter ($7.30) for dessert. Both beef dishes had tender meat and flavourful gravy. The curry was flavourful enough without overwhelming spices and same goes for the black pepper gravy. The baked rice was topped with cheese which made the whole dish more umami, funky, and texturally fun. The crispy pineapple bun lives up to its name for being crispy. Went so good with the butter, especially if you eat it slowly, letting some of the edges of the butter melt onto the bunโs surface. While the food is like in Hong Kong, Iโd say the service is too. It is efficient. Donโt expect smiles and wordy niceties. They will not seem friendly, yet they are not rude.
