What a fabulous place. Food was excellent. Tasty, sufficient portions and a good variety of foods. The atmosphere is also good. Especially downstairs in the sandstone walled cellar. Can seat groups of 6/8 or can probably hire the whole room for a bigger group.
We were on vacation to Sydney and decided to give this local Italian restaurant a go. Super convenient location for us as it was steps from our hotel. Staff were pleasant and warm when we entered and promptly had us seated. The menu had a wide variety of options as we made our minds up. We sat up the back in our own little private area which further set the ambience. We didnโt have to wait long for our meals and everything was delicious. It was a little on the higher end of the pricing scale however the quality of the experience met the target. The Millefoglie al cioccolato was delicious!
We went for an early lunch, and it was a great experience. We sat outside and it was a more quite part of Rushcutter/ Elizabeth bay. Itโs near the train stop but we drove and there parking available. The staff was very friendly and helpful; the menu looks amazing, and the wines are really good! We had two starters and two pasta dishesโฆbeautiful food! Somehow we only took pictures of the staters, the pastas where delicious. I felt I was back in Italy. Weโre definitely coming back!
Every dish was absolutely delicious, and each plate was beautifully and exquisitely presented. I truly enjoyed my birthday dinner. The pricing was also very reasonable. Everything was perfect.
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. I opted for the tasting menu, and while the appetizers were decent (the octopus was tender and flavorful, and the bread was good), the rest of the meal left much to be desired. The cod balls were strangeโjust salty with an odd texture. For the main course, I had the blue swimmer gnocchi, which was disappointing. It lacked any crab flavor, and the taste of eggs was overpowering. The gnocchi itself was incredibly soft, almost mushyโmy 80-year-old grandmother might have liked it, but it just didnโt work for me. I also ordered the lamb, which was tender but lacked any distinct lamb flavor. The portions were ridiculously smallโsignificantly smaller than the ones at the table next to us, even though they were ordering ร la carte. It just didnโt seem fair that the tasting menu servings were so much smaller. I personally didnโt enjoy the ice cream with pickled cherries, but Iโm not a fan of pickled fruit, so I wonโt judge it. Overall, while the prices are reasonable, the food didnโt meet expectations, and the portion sizes were just too small for the price. Disappointing experience.
