This is the self-serve fast food version of hotpot. It's not hotpot on your table, rather, you fill up your bowl, choose your soup and have the cook prepare it for tou. The service is simple, not much they do for you and the place is definitely a bit cramped but the main thing, i.e., the food is amazing -- 8 soup options and 2 big display shelves full of ingredients that would satisfy pretty much all of hotpot crowd. I'm not crazy for spicy so I went with level 2. I'd go with lv3 next time. Open until late night and that's a bonus. I've been here twice for cravings and I think it's perfect for that.

As a returning customer, I am deeply disappointed by my experience tonight. Around 8:40 PM, my friend and I visited the restaurant, but the food quality was shockingly poor. The ingredients—especially the meat products—had an obvious unpleasant smell, which made us question their freshness. Trusting the restaurant, I approached the front counter to seek assistance. Unfortunately, what happened next was even more upsetting. The staff member at the counter, a man wearing glasses and a cap, spoke to me with an extremely cold and unfriendly attitude. His tone and behaviour made me feel pressured and uncomfortable. He reluctantly offered to let me replace the ingredients, but insisted that I pick new items that matched the exact weight of the original ones—despite the fact that the food itself was not fresh to begin with. This rigid and unreasonable requirement felt completely inhumane and dismissive of my concerns. After I insisted, he eventually processed a refund, but by then my trust and fondness for this restaurant had already been worn away by the unprofessional attitude and lack of responsibility. This experience has left me extremely disappointed, and I sincerely hope the management takes action to improve both food quality and customer service.

Our apartment was close to David's Master Pot while we were visiting Melbourne and this was an idea places to go to late at night after our Dojo Cat concert. Closing time on door stated they close at 2am. Arrived about midnight, was greeted nicely by the staff. Picked our ingredients, paid, waited for our food. Every was great so far, the atmosphere was cozy, restaurant appears clean. Waited 15-20 mins for our meals to be cooked. Roughly close to 1am while enjoying our meals was told by staff we have to leave so they can close up. We were upset as we had only eaten 1/4 of meals. Language barrier was one thing as they couldn't and understand English properly and insisted we have to leave. I told the staff we just got our meals and still haven't finished our meals. Was told by staff we either leave the food or paid for take away containers to take our food with us. I was not happy and refused to paid. My meal along costed approx $48 my girlfriends meal costed approx $52. Meals are charged accordingly to weigh. After a very unpleasant confrontation the staff upsetly gave two containers to us and we were not charged. In the future they should advised customers not to dine in and only order take away close to closing times. Our apartment was close by and we would have been happy to order our meals and gone back to our apartment to enjoy our meals. I witnessed other customer paid for their containers or left their half eaten meals. To me this was not exceptable! Not Good Dacid's Master Pot. I was very upset I didn't enjoyed the rest of my meal due to this experience.

Me and my partner came with some work friends for dinner. We had a good experience, the food was delicious and there was a lot of choices. However, 2 friends got food poisoning from eating chicken. There were the only two people sick and they had put chicken in their bowl. The water was very bad (tap water with lemon but it tasted like dirty water)

First time at David's Master Pot in Melbourne- so good! Loved the spicy kick and cozy vibe. Even better sharing it with my lovely friend. Signature soup was fire 🔥 So rich, so bold-every spoon a flavor bomb.
