Great bar, the atmosphere is amazing, and Reuben the bartender there is the best, makes the best cocktails and made us feel right at home.

We took a short stroll to Coal & Cedar for a pre-dinner tipple. The speakeasy is hidden behind a barber shop. You ring a number for entry. Friendly bartenders will take you through their list. The smoked maple ($27) is a fun riff on an old fashioned made on Michter’s bourbon with maple and walnut bitters, garnished with a torched marshmallow.

Omg! What an experience. The place was buzzing! Especially for us rural peeps. The table service from the amazing gentleman was spot on. Always checked on you and brought water and amazing cocktails. We asked for some cocktails not on the menu and they still made them for us. Amazing place. Definitely worth a visit if you're out of town. There is a wait if you get there late. We arrived around 8pm on a Saturday. Just before it got too busy.

Probably one of the most famous cocktail bars in Newcastle. Good selection of drinks, nice staff and great atmosphere.
