Gorgeous food. Fresh, delicious, plentiful. Highly recommend the duck, king prawn and eggplant dishes for a start. Great location, fair prices for the excellent quality, friendly and attentive service.

My favourite restaurant in Canberra! What can I say - this is hands down my favourite restaurant in Canberra. The owner is incredibly warm, friendly and welcoming, which makes every visit feel special. I have to mention the curry soft-shell crab - Iโ€™ve never had anything like it in Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra. The flavour, quality and texture are unmatched. Whenever I visit Canberra, this is the place I must stop by. The food is always fresh, full of umami, portions are generous and I always leave completely satisfied and already planning my next visit. If only they had a location in Melbourne - I would be there every day! This is a rare find - a true gem of a restaurant. I never expected to become such a fan of Lao/Thai cuisine, but this place changed that for me. If you have a chance to visit, I highly recommend stopping in and giving it a try - you wonโ€™t be disappointed.

We finally tried CHAMPI, and the food absolutely blew us away. Every dish was vibrant, beautifully balanced, and bursting with flavour โ€” clearly made with care and confidence in the kitchen. The Prik Khing Pork Belly was a standout: crisp-edged, tender, and perfectly seasoned, with a balance of spice, sweetness, and aromatics that was spot on. The portion sizes were generous without being over the top, and itโ€™s worth noting that CHAMPIโ€™s spice ratings on the menu are impressively accurate โ€” a rare and welcome detail. Unfortunately, the service didnโ€™t quite match the standard of the food. We had plenty of attention early on โ€” almost too much before weโ€™d even had a chance to order โ€” but once our meals were in, it felt like we disappeared from view. Despite the restaurant not being full, getting anyoneโ€™s attention for another drink or even a quick check-in proved surprisingly difficult. That said, CHAMPIโ€™s food is genuinely special and worth coming back for. If the front-of-house service can find a better rhythm to match the kitchenโ€™s brilliance, itโ€™ll easily rank among Canberraโ€™s best dining experiences.

Every dish full of flavour! ๐Ÿ˜‹ I have been coming a few times for these! Standout dishes for me are the Special Crab Meat Fried Rice, Tom Yum Fried Rice, the two Pork Belly dishes, and their really unique-tasting entree Double Crispy Chicken Wings!

Fried rice was superb. Pad Thai was delicious. Dessert was good, just too sweet for us.
