I had a wonderful birthday experience at The Tailors. Service was topnotch and great ambiance. There was just a small miscommunication with one guest with dietary requirements which they quickly sorted for us. I love the customised drinks menu! We were happy customers!
One star honestly seems excessive given the service and food on offer on my visit tonight. After booking in advance for an inside seat, once arrived we were told to wait at the main desk while the waiters debated on available tables for a few minutes quietly talking to each other before telling us that they “had a mistake with their bookings tonight”. After being given an outside table that was barely sheltered from the rain, we were promptly visited by a waitress for our food and drinks. That’s where the end of “promptly” starts. After being told what was sold out, I made my order for a cocktail and was told “I’ve just been told that’s sold out too”, so we enquired about the charcuterie board and were told that it “includes all of your charcuterie classics, olives, meats and uhh… the classics y’know?” After ordering a simple charcuterie board and a bottle of wine, 10 minutes passes and the wine is brought out. Thanks are exchanged and small talk is made to fill the time while we wait for our plate of cold cut meats and presumably cheese. After the waitress leaves we have a glass of wine and proceed to pour another, all the while seeing other people seated and having their orders taken before realising that it’s now been 40 minutes since ordering and again - our plate of cold cut slices of meat have still not arrived. I walked inside after trying to flag down a waiter and being ignored, and when inquiring about the board was told “the chefs are very busy tonight”. Understandable, it’s New Year’s Eve. As soon as I sit down, the waitress follows me out not a minute later with the plate saying “as soon as I went to ask about it they said it’s right here!”. What was supplied was a small plate of assorted salami, “fantastic” rice crackers, mortadella and pastrami that all was lifted straight off the shelf and deli section (at best) from the Coles across the road. To add, the plate of cold cut meats was at this point, room temperature at best. For $36 a plate, we expected (and were told) it was the classics, along with olives etc. The waitress who brought out the plate then went to socialise with what I can only assume were her friends at the table next to us, and again I tried to ask her if this was the entire charcuterie board and was ignored and she walked past me. I then went inside again to ask about the missing cheese and olives and was told “oh that’s for our cheese board (that is not listed anywhere on the menu) and there’s no actual olives, it’s actually an olive dip” - it was a red rock deli roasted capsicum dip at best. After originally sitting down and wishing to put the year behind us, my partner and I were now actively looking to put this bar behind us and walk across the road for a more fulfilling and satisfying meal that was served up within literal minutes and was exactly what was on offer, instead of being told the opposite of what we spent an excessive amount of money on. Granted, they discounted the meal at the end of the night but for a small plate of “cold” cut meat and a teaspoon of dip after 40+ minutes because the chefs were “busy”, is an extremely weak effort and will be the first & last time I visit this venue. The outside seating area was pretty though, and it’s a shame that’s the only nice thing I have to say.
I recently celebrated my 60th birthday at The Tailor’s. We also had access to the Secret Garden which my guests appreciated. We had a fantastic night. Dan and Adam were great to deal with when organising the event and the staff on the night were friendly, efficient and helpful. The atmosphere was perfect and my guests were very impressed with venue. The food was delicious and the bespoke cocktail menu was a very cool addition. Thank you to all involved for helping me to create a memorable night.
Intimate, rustic place with cosy vibe. Service was good, food was tasty but small quantity for price. Parking a bit difficult during peak hours and metered. The Black Knight cocktail was unique and nicely done if you like a smokey flavoured and smoky drink.
We were lucky to book Canvas Club’s The Tailors space to celebrate an 18th Birthday. The food was delicious, satisfying and well paired with drinks we had on the menu. The ambience, staff and management were friendly, professional and great! Awesome venue
