Delicious New Years Eve 5 course dinner at Bistro St Jacques. Thank you for looking after us. Early sitting was a good choice. Nothing felt rushed or hectic. On arrival was a glass of champagne with caviar tart to start. Followed by fantastic Sydney Rock Oysters and Beef Tartare with Crispy Potatoes. Next was Baked Scallops which was creamy and delightful. Mains we had the Steak Frites and Seafood Bouillabaisse. To finish we had the Chocolate Mousse and Peach Melba. Just the right amount of food. What a great way to usher in 2026!
Overall the quality was great for most of the dishes. I felt a bit disappointed when tasting the flounder. It clearly lacked seasoning and there was too much oil on the dish. The prawn cocktail was simple and delicious, but presentation was not great (see photo). The standout dish of the night was the roasted scallops (first entree item). A bit chewy and i couldn't taste the saltiness of the scallops but thanksfully the mushroom and bechamel blend came to the rescue. We will definitely come back and try other dishes. Thank you for cooking delicious food for us. Merry Xmas๐๐๐
Order the lunch set menu with 1 appetiser and 1 main. The appetiser was the fish of the day made in tartare style. very fresh. The steak and fries were amazing. The steak was cooked very well, and the fries were very crispy. Lovely vibes and great service.
The food was nothing short of amazingโ beautifully presented, fresh and crafted with care. The service was attentive without being intrusive, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome and ensured every detail was perfect. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.
So we had a big lunch here with my friend who recommended this place. Entree: Chicken Liver, Onion Soup & Souffle. Easy 4 out of 5 for me. Potato chips on the sides. Yummy!!! Mains was the highlight for me. Gnocchi and Fish Pie, personally my favorites. So gooddddd. We also tried mussels. Wrapped the lunch with yummy cheese platter at the end. Overall a great place to be. The ambience is nice and staffs are lovely.
