This is my first Omakase experience, and can honestly say: no words can describe the overall experience, the tasting of all courses provided, the friendliness of the staff both on stage and the floor. The chef and team presented amazingly beautiful dishes, very articulate with their explanations and stories behind each produce used in their dishes, presented in such a way where you need to make a serious decision on whether to eat it or admire its beauty. He took time to have colloquial conversions with us in between preparing and serving the courses which made the experience feeling more personalised. Highly recommend going here to experience the culinary excellence! Thank you to the team for making our visit a memorable one! We look forward to returning!
Besuto โ Omakase Sydney is the Bugatti of Sydney restaurants. From the very beginning, youโre entertained and genuinely surprised by a sequence of top-class sushi and rare, exceptionally fresh ingredients, including rare A5 wagyu beef that is prepared and presented with absolute respect for its quality. Every course feels intentional, refined, and quietly spectacular. The experience is completely unique and almost impossible to compare with other restaurants. Chef Michi is a true professionalโfocused, confident, and clearly operating at the highest level of his craft. The ambience is warm and super cosy, the staff are polished and attentive without being intrusive, and the whole evening flows effortlessly. If this isnโt the best restaurant in Sydney, it is without doubt in the top three. Once again, Besuto truly earns its title as the Bugatti of Sydneyโs dining scene.
From beginning to end, a delightful and entertaining experience. Chef Michi and his team brought balance and refinement. The guests brought laughter and fun. After a superb meal we moved to the whisky bar next door, keeping spirits high. One of my favourite evenings this year.
Exquisite experience, charming staff and very knowledgeable chef that brought the whole experience together. It goes without saying that the food was exceptional. Next time i would be tempted by the sake pairing but tbh we were perfectly satisfied without it! Intimate and perfect for date/celebration. Option to converse with the other diners if you are so inclined but the atmosphere is also perfectly comfortable to enjoy quietly.
I booked Omasake Besuto only because other omakase restaurants were fully booked. I was already hesitant since this place had many bad reviews years ago, but the recent positive ones made me think it was fine. Sadly, it wasnโt. The portions were very small, not filling at all, and the food was overly salty we had to drink a lot of water afterward. For over $900 for two people, the quality was far from worth it. The chef introduced the beef without even mentioning what grade it was (M7, M9, A9?), and the steamed egg with sea urchin was unpleasantly fishy. I also noted it was our anniversary, hoping for a small thoughtful touch, but all they did was put a candle on lemon sorbet. Even the guest next to us celebrating a birthday got the exact same thing. For the price, everything felt lazy, uninspired, and disappointing. Definitely not a place I would return to.
