17by4 in Geelong is a charming and delicious cafรฉ-restaurant that makes any visit feel special. I went recently, sat down with friends, and enjoyed tea and coffee in a relaxing setting with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, so it was easy to find a comfortable spot to unwind and chat. The vibe is warm and welcoming with friendly service and a lovely atmosphere that works for casual catch ups, brunch dates, or just a relaxed coffee break. They offer a great all day menu alongside high teas, pastries, brunch classics and more, all served with attention to detail and quality. The drinks were perfectly brewed and the whole experience felt relaxed and enjoyable.
Fantastic cafe. Friendly and welcoming staff, great coffee and food. I had the smashed avo which had a hint of tobasco which was not overpowering in any way. The iced latte (coffee) was very good. If you're in the area, drop in for a meal or just a coffee.
We visited 17 by 4 Cafรฉ in Geelong for what was advertised as a joyous Christmas celebration high tea. There were definitely some positives, but overall the experience didnโt quite live up to the expectations set by the advertising. On the positive side, the high tea itself was well presented, with a lovely selection of treats that looked good. There was also a good range of tea options, which we appreciated. The room was set up nicely with some Christmas decorations, creating a festive atmosphere. Unfortunately, the customer service really let the experience down. We were seated beside a staircase, outside of the main dining area, which felt odd given there was still plenty of seating available in the main space. Because of this, we didnโt really get to enjoy the Christmas setup that had been put together. On arrival, we were simply told โyour table is over there.โ A staff member took our drink order but never returned, and we eventually had to ask for our drinks again. When the high tea arrived, it was placed on the table without any explanation. We then overheard a waiter behind us describing the items to another table, which made the lack of information at our table more noticeable. When I asked if we could get a quick rundown of what the items were, I was told the staff member didnโt know what they were, which felt strange for a high tea service. The sandwiches were excellent as were the mini muffins and Pavlova. The scones (usually the star of the show) were just okay although a little dense. Unfortunately, the trifle was awful. Overall, the poor service and seating choice with mixed food quality took away from what was meant to be a festive, celebratory experience.
Had a fantastic breakfast here! ๐ฅ The avocado toast was fresh and flavorful, and the caramel milkshake was rich, creamy, and perfectly balancedโnot overly sweet. Coffee was also great. A great spot to start the day with tasty food and refreshing drinks. Highly recommend!
Nice venue for intimate parties and celebrations. While the avocado on my smashed avo toast didnโt taste very fresh and the sourdough lacked its usual crustiness, the overall flavour combination was still enjoyable. The big breakfast was generous in portion size. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
